Coinbase Gets Approval to Operate in the Netherlands
Coinbase said in a statement that Coinbase is the first crypto exchange to gain registration in the Netherlands.
Coinbase Approved by the Netherlands
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced that it has registered as a crypto service provider with the Dutch Central Bank.
The approval by the Dutch authorities will allow Coinbase to operate in 26 other European Union member states once the EU's Market for Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation comes into force.
Nana Murugesan, Coinbase's vice president of international and business development, said in a statement:
"The Netherlands is a critical international market for crypto and I'm really excited for Coinbase to bring the potential of the crypto economy to the market here.
Coinbase follows rival crypto exchanges such as Binance, registered in France, and Bitstamp in Italy in gaining regulatory approval in individual European countries this year. This makes it easier to operate across the EU following the enactment of MiCA.
