Dogecoin's core developer leaves the project

Ross Nicoll, the core developer of Dogecoin, said he is leaving the project. Nicoll explained the reason for leaving as undue stress and a possible conflict of interest.

The developer will remain as an advisor at Dogecoin. In addition, Nicoll stated that he will hand over everything to the Dogecoin Foundation, and stated that the company he works for has also started to operate in the field of Blockchain, which leads to the risk of conflict of interest if he remains as a director. Nicoll is a software engineer at tech giant Google.

Founded in 2014, back in 2021
The Dogecoin Foundation was first established in 2014 and started its activities, but then stopped working over time. It was reactivated last year with the support of Elon Musk and Vitalik Buterin.

Jared Birchall, head of Elon Musk's family office, and Vitalik Buterin , co-founder of Ethereum, are currently consulting the foundation. The foundation's goal is to support the development of Dogecoin through advocacy, governance and trademark protection.
